In the pursuit of a fully digital and smart heating network, Stadsverwarming Purmerend (SVP) decided in 2017 to upgrade their heat meters to smart meters, as required by European directives. With three-quarters of the buildings in Purmerend connected to their heating network, SVP sought a robust solution to improve monitoring, control, and data collection.
Challenges:

SVP chose Aurum’s EnergyGrip solution for its robust end-to-end data chain and the ability to collect real-time data from hard-to-reach locations. The solution includes:
- Smart heat meters: Large-scale rollout of Nextalinks with narrowband IoT or LTE-M communication technology to implement smart heat meters. These meters measure various parameters such as water volume, supply and return temperature, flow, and energy.
- Portal for asset managers: The EnergyGrip portal provides SVP asset managers with the ability to monitor measurement data and control infrastructure, enabling proactive actions.
- Whitelabel end user App: SVP adopts the whitelabel app from EnergyGrip to provide end-users with real-time insight into their energy consumption. This app also supports messaging options and integrates into the asset management process.
- Billing data: The reliable data from EnergyGrip is used to provide the necessary billing data for the monthly invoice to SVP’s customers.
